Notes

Caveat:
--this is a degraded multi-generation sbd

Notes:
--splice during Drums; presumably several minutes are missing
--minor splice at 2:46 during first verse of Other One

Comments from deadlists:
--Before That's It For The Other One DeadBase IX lists Casey Jones, Candyman, Mama Tried, Easy Wind, Saint Stephen; and following Cosmic Charlie it lists Uncle John's Band. There was also a NPRS set. A 90 minute AUD tape from this show has been rumored for years but never turns up; probably it is a list mirage based on the SBD and does not exist. Ned Lagin says this show was the first time he performed with the Dead, but that he wasn't plugged into the PA.

Subject: I was there.
I was one of the many who didn't get tickets. I went to the back to listen through the open doors. Next thing I knew, I was being carried in in a wave of humanity. It was scary as hell. I saw a policeman disappear under the crowd. I was almost impaled by a bit brace as I was pushed over a speaker.
I managed to stay for the show;-)#). The trained chimps was, to this day, the strangest thing I ever saw at a concert. The NROPS were great, as were the Dead. It was my favorite Dead concert. I was standing right in front of the stage. I remember Dark Star, the Eleven and Uncle Johns Band. It was my favorite weekend, ever, because I saw the Allman Brothers at the Tea Party Friday Night.

Subject: Don't forget the First Act !
Forget NROTPS the first act at this show was a CHIMP ACT...I know cause me & Dreamer knocked it down when it was over....And later me & Sam Cutler tried to hold the MOB back who didn't get in & were buckling the Gym Doors from outside but they burst thru anyway...seems someone printed hundreds of tickets with the same numbers pissin a lot of people off ..Great Show while it lasted ..Ned on keyboards for sure !

while the parchment may have yellowed a bit, the message in this holy text is still clear. a day before my birthdate,11-22, I wish someone would upload the show from the next night. It's supposed to have been at the Middlesex county community college in Edison NJ.

Subject: A taste of what we'll never hear
Yeah, the sound quality is not all it could be but it's totally listenable, especially in your car with the volume turned way freaking up. I actually like the way this tape sounds in the same way I like the way my 9th generation tape of 5-2-70 sounds: distorted to the max like some of those early Ash Ra Tempel Private Tapes.

This is seriously hot stuff and what's great is that you can tell it's going to be good from the first fifteen seconds of Cryptical. Both Jerry and Bobby are singing like they mean it ...

Will someone please upload the audience tape of the Merced, CA show? I don't want to do it myself because I still haven't forgiven Bob "Money, Money, Money" Weir for his bad behavior.

Subject: Ok but not terrible
While the sound quality is poor, the show is great and definately listenable. Worth downloading. Only giving it 5 stars just to boost the rating of it, should really just get a 3 1/2.
